Bangladesh has responded positively to Oman’s proposal for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, or CEPA. Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said technical preparation and a feasibility study should guide further talks, BSS reported.

The minister met Oman’s ambassador at the Secretariat on 13 October. According to BSS, the ambassador discussed Oman’s experience with its economic partnership agreement with India and suggested a similar arrangement with Bangladesh.

The meeting also covered exports, investment, the trade deficit, a joint business council and business delegations. These were areas for discussion. The report did not announce a signed CEPA or a date for concluding one.
