Bangladesh is discussing possible additional assistance with the World Bank, but no final decision has been reached, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said after a meeting in Bangkok on 13 October, according to BSS. He said the process could take several more months, with talks continuing in Dhaka.

The Business Standard had reported a request for an additional $10 billion over three years, citing an unnamed senior Finance Ministry official. The reported purposes included pressure from energy subsidies. The minister did not himself confirm that amount in the statement reported by BSS.

The distinction matters: discussions do not constitute an approved loan or a signed financing agreement. The terms, timing and allocation would need to be established if an agreement is reached.
