A cyberattack on connected refrigeration equipment affected hundreds of supermarkets in France, spoiling food and causing fires at some stores. Al Jazeera reported the incident on 13 October, drawing on AFP and Reuters.
The report said temperatures in some refrigeration systems reached 50°C on 11 and 12 October. Several major food retailers confirmed the attack, and the Paris prosecutor’s office described it as a large-scale cyberattack.
Reuters, citing an official from the French prime minister’s office, reported that the national cybersecurity agency ANSSI was involved in the investigation. The report did not identify who was responsible. A reliable estimate of total losses was not available at that point.
