Tourists staying in Sajek left on Monday ahead of the deadline set by the Rangamati administration. Local reporting said the army escorted visitors out in two groups after the temporary closure was announced.
Samakal and Dainik Azadi, citing local transport and accommodation representatives, reported that no tourists remained after the departures. Reports differed on the total number of visitors, so this brief does not give a single figure.
The resort and cottage owners’ association told Samakal that rooms had been booked for the Durga Puja holiday from 16 to 24 October. A prolonged closure could mean cancelled bookings and losses. The district administrator said restrictions could be lifted after conditions were assessed; no definite reopening date was announced.
