About 35,000 pearls were used to decorate Durga idols at the Buria community Puja venue in Ashashuni, Satkhira. BSS reported on 12 October that pearl designs were added to parts of 13 idols, alongside coloured and laser lighting.
Artist Newton Roy said four craftspeople worked for about a month and a half, starting on 5 August. BSS put the estimated cost of the whole arrangement at Tk450,000.
The display adds a new decorative approach to a celebration with a history of roughly seven decades. The report said visitors were coming to see the venue ahead of the festival, but did not provide an attendance count.
