Erling Haaland scored twice as Manchester City beat Ipswich Town 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, giving the club a seventh win in seven Premier League games and leaving them six points clear at the top.
The result made Enzo Maresca the first manager to win his first seven Premier League matches in charge of a club.
Phil Foden put City ahead before Daizen Maeda equalised. Haaland restored the lead with a header from Mateo Kovacic's cross before half-time and scored his second in the 69th minute, powering past Abdoul Ouattara and finishing low into the corner. Ipswich pulled one back through a stoppage-time penalty by Zian Flemming.
Haaland was denied a hat-trick by an offside decision. He has now scored 100 non-penalty goals in the Premier League in 139 appearances, fewer than any other player; Alan Shearer previously reached that mark in 150 games.
The match was City's first home league game since they were found to have breached Premier League financial rules. The club denies wrongdoing and is appealing. Haaland and Antoine Semenyo limped off at full-time, and Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Nico O'Reilly also picked up injuries.
Elsewhere, Chelsea beat Everton 2-0 through a Pedro Neto double, though their goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was taken to hospital after a clash of heads. Liverpool won 2-1 at Brentford, and Fulham beat Hull City 1-0.
